Case Study #17: Motorsports Venue (50,800 Monthly Organic Visits)
Venue name, website, town, racing series and sponsors have been withheld.
The Situation: A major road racing circuit in the Midwest sells far more than race tickets: driving and riding schools, track days, karting, camping and more. Fans search for the venue by name, but new customers search for things like "race car track" or "motorcycle school." The goal was to lead the market on both.
The Snapshot (October 2026, Semrush):
- 22,300 ranking keywords, up 14%
- ~50,800 organic visits a month, up 6%
- ~$114,000/year in equivalent Google Ads value, with $0 ad spend needed for this traffic
- 262 #1 rankings (~73,000 monthly searches), 827 in the top three
- 2.6× as many keywords as the closest search competitor
- 235 searches where Google's AI Overview cites the venue
What We Did This Month:
- Published six spectator guides (where to watch, how general admission works, a first-timer's guide to endurance racing and three race-weekend guides) targeting about 59,000 monthly searches.
- Earned six editorial backlinks from travel, lifestyle and business articles pointing to two major event pages and the hospitality page.
#1 for New-Customer Searches:
| Search | Rank | Monthly searches |
|---|---|---|
| motorcycle school | #1 | 3,600 |

| track days | #1 | 1,000 |
| car race track near me | #2 | 1,000 |
| motorcycle race tracks near me | #1 | 880 |
| car racing tracks near me | #1 | 590 |
"Racing near me tonight" jumped 44 spots, from #56 to #12.
Every Business Line on Page One (estimated monthly visits):
Events & tickets: 7,451
Karting: 1,293
Track days: 1,269
Driving & riding schools: 1,191
Live camera feed: 913
Camping & lodging: 735
Specialty license plate: 573
Owning More of the Results Page: Beyond the 235 AI Overview citations (about 57,300 searches a month), the venue shows in image results for 138 searches and in its own knowledge panel for 99. Its 77 articles already rank for 274 keywords, 88 of them on page one.
The Takeaway: A destination with many revenue lines needs each one to be findable. Branded rankings keep fans coming back; pages for schools, track days and "near me" searches bring new customers; and plain-answer guides earn citations in AI search.
About These Numbers: Figures come from Semrush (US desktop, October 6–7, 2026). Visits, traffic value and search volumes are third-party estimates, not ticket sales or revenue. The new guides and links went live in late September and early October, so their impact will show in later reports.
